Blockchain was invented by a person using the name Satoshi Nakamoto in 2008 to serve as the public transaction ledger of the cryptocurrency Bitcoin.

Blockchain is a growing list of records, called blocks, that are linked using cryptography. Each block contains a cryptographic hash of the previous block. By design, a Blockchain is resistant to modification of the data. It is distributed ledger that can record transactions between two parties efficiently and in a verifiable and permanent way. In simple words, Blockchain is distributed consensus.

The use of distributed ledger, a Blockchain is typically managed by a peer to peer network collectively adhering to a protocol for inter-node connection communication and validating new blocks. Once recorded, the data in any given block can not be altered retroactively without alteration of all subsequent blocks, which requires consensus of the network majority.

Its all started with Bitcoin, was first Blockchain solution that was most successfully implemented. Bitcoin is a Cryptocurrency. It is decentralized digital currency without a central bank or single administrator that can be sent from user to user on the peer-to-peer bitcoin network. Transaction are verified by network nodes through cryptography and recorded in a public ledger called a Blockchain. Bitcoin was primarily permission less Blockchain.

Some enterprises want to use within their ecosystem, could be within in the company or within the group of company, all limited stakeholders, which means they are permission Blockchain. In other words, limited access.

Blockchain can be helpful for many people and more businesses to experience its potential in banking and finance industry. Specific use cases of Blockchain such as, Financial services, Supply chain, Cryptocurrencies, smart contracts, video games, health care industries, automobile industries and other uses.
